Event: Growing Tech-for-Good in the North East

Whilst you’ll often find us in London meeting charities of all sizes, we’re incredibly proud that Donr HQ is based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Known for its friendly people – as well as being one of the UK’s fastest-growing digital and technology sectors – the North East is most definitely home.

That’s why when we were brainstorming our year-end event open to the public, we picked a topic that’s not only important to the charity sector but to our local community too – hence “Growing Tech-for-Good in the North East” was born. The event will kickstart with four 10-minute talks, followed by an informal panel discussion about how to tackle some of the funding challenges faced by the social impact and tech-for-good sector.

Chris Newell is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Donr, a Newcastle-based tech-for-good company providing over 1,600 UK charities with digital fundraising tools. With over 10 years’ experience in innovative mobile payments solutions, he co-founded Donr with Paul Paterson when he realised the gap in both affordable and accessible mobile donation technology specially designed for charities — as well as how much it was costing the UK charity sector as a whole to raise vital funds.

Chris and Paul have previously built a business that featured 10th in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 in 2015, 12th in 2016 and 28th in 2017.
