To celebrate the milestone, we thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane, to document how we went from launching our Text Giving service in 2018 to welcoming our 5,000th charity less than three years later!
2018
Way back in November 2018, we launched our Text Giving service. Within six weeks, over 150 charities had joined us – allowing them to offer their supporters a quick and contactless way to donate to their cause by SMS.
Since the very beginning, our fee structure (no sign up or monthly fees) has meant that charities ranging from small village churches right up to huge organisations have been able to sign up and make use of our service – something to do this day, we remain extremely proud of.
2019
The new year brought more exciting milestones for Donr, such as securing our first investment to fuel our growth and our platform.
In June of 2019, we were over the moon to welcome our 1,000th sign up to the platform: UK Sepsis Trust. We also enjoyed our first full year of exhibiting at conferences, meeting many of you at the likes of the IoF Fundraising Convention!
We were also proud to work with some incredible corporates throughout the year who were fundraising on behalf of some brilliant causes, including Enterprise Rent-a-Car (for BBC Children in Need), The Body Shop at Home (for Children on the Edge) and Cineworld (also for BBC Children in Need).
2020
The strength, resilience and creativity that we saw from charities in response to the pandemic and in the face of adversity was unparalleled.
Innovative virtual campaigns – such as those by National Theatre and Street Soccer Scotland – had a huge impact, and made incredible case study stories that helped to influence many other charities.
We passed through 2,000, 3,000 and even 4,000 sign ups throughout the year, helping charities to continue to fundraise using contactless and secure donation solutions.
Supporters were incredible in showing their generosity – in 2020 alone, over 292,000 supporters donated £3,090,011 to 3,263 charities via Donr Text Giving (a 515% increase in donations than seen the previous year).
Plus, Donr also had an incredibly exciting Christmas period, powering millions of pounds in donations for both BBC Children in Need and John Lewis & Partners over the festive period.
2021
As well as welcoming our 5,000th charity account to the platform, we are also delighted at the incredible news that we’ve helped our charities to raise £5 million using our platform.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible community of charities using our platform. We want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you and praise you for your incredible and tireless work!
