The Great Northern Raffle

Charity Escapes launched the Great Northern Raffle, to raise funds for charities who were struggling with reduced income as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Challenge

Charities facing funding gaps due to Covid

Charity Escapes was founded to source auction and raffle prizes for charities to use at fundraising events.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, fundraising events were put on hold.

This resulted in charities facing funding gaps and meant that there were few events for Charity Escapes to provide prizes for.

The Solution

The launch of the Great Northern Raffle

In order to raise funds for charities struggling due to the pandemic, Charity Escapes created The Great Northern Raffle.

Supporters could enter the raffle to win prizes, whilst making a voluntary donation to charities.

Each charity promoted the raffle through their own channels, and there was also coverage in local media to raise awareness.

What was achieved…

Over £45,000 raised

Entrants made voluntary donations to local charities whilst entering the raffle

27 charities benefited

Entrants could support their chosen charity, or have their donation split between all charities

Top prize of a £17,000 car

A noteworthy prize gained media attention and encouraged lots of entries

“Using Text Raffles, we were able to raise over £45,000 for North East charities. It was a new initiative for us, so we were particularly pleased with its success.”
