Running a Virtual Talent Show
In late 2020, Max’s Foundation asked their supporters to showcase their secret skills, as they hosted an online talent show as a virtual fundraising event.
Entrants were encouraged to submit short videos of their acts, which were then edited together and shown at the online event, which was broadcast using Zoom. A real variety of talents were on show – including singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, and even trampoliners and diablo jugglers!
And, in true talent show style, a live MC and judging panel also took part in the event – taking turns to comment on and compliment each act on the night.
In order to successfully fundraise during the event, Max’s Foundation chose to collect donations – as well as allow votes to be cast – using Text Giving.
Each act was assigned their own unique text keyword – for example, “MATTY”, “VATO”, “JESSANDLIV” and “NATALIE” were just four of the acts taking part on the night.
“This was a really fun event to run and having the support of Donr was invaluable” – Shira Schiller, Co-Founder of Max’s Foundation
The audience watching the live stream at home were then able to text in to vote for their favourite act – whilst also making a voluntary donation of £2 to the charity – as the event took place. Voting was also open in the days leading up to the event, too.
Donations were then tracked in real-time using the Donr Dashboard, meaning the charity were able to add up the votes on the night to declare a winner at the end of the show.
The event was a real success for Max’s Foundation, who said the talent show was a really fun and exciting campaign to run.
As you can register an unlimited number of keywords on our platform, a text-to-donate competition is a really quick and easy campaign to set up!
If you’re feeling inspired to set up your own text-to-vote campaign, you can get in touch with our team and we’d be happy to advise accordingly.
