You should create an opt-out keyword and promote this alongside your campaign’s main Text Giving keyword so that supporters have the choice to opt in or out of further communications.
Want to know a little more?
We understand how important further communications are to charities. We also know that all of our charity partners aim to meet the GDPR requirements. So, what are the options when it comes to comms?
When a supporter donates to a charity via Donr’s Text Giving service, they receive a text receipt message including regulatory information about their donation and, potentially, a request for their Gift Aid declaration. At this point, Donr will send no further communications on behalf of your charity.
However, we can provide certain information so that your organisation can send further communications to supporters, provided you have their permission to do so.
A marketing communication is a message which is directly attempting to persuade its audience to do something, such as asking a donor to give again.
You can be as subtle or overt as you please in these messages, as they do require a previous informed and positive opt in from the donor. However, you must ensure that you always include instructions on how to stop future communications in these messages.
So How Do We Get Started on sending Marketing Communications?
While you cannot currently send any marketing communications through Donr to charities, we can provide your organisation with the appropriate information, so that you can do so yourselves:
N.B. None of the above should be taken as legal advice. If your organisation has any doubts of the legality of any communication it intends to send out, we suggest checking with appropriate legal counsel before doing so.
Please NEVER sell, share, swap or pass your supporters’ data to any other party in any way, regardless as to whether they opt into marketing communications or not.
