Safe Haven for Donkeys

Safe Haven for Donkeys' Social Campaign

Coronavirus negatively impacted on the charity's finances. With donkeys to look after, efforts were focused on reaching supporters via social media and asking them to donate via text.

The Challenge

Coronavirus forces the sanctuary to close

As for many charities, the coronavirus pandemic had a harmful effect on Safe Haven for Donkeys’ finances. The sanctuary had to close to visitors, which meant a drop in income and other sources of income were also delayed or decreased.

The Solution

Income from Text Giving quadrupled

In response to the drop in income, Safe Haven for Donkeys promoted their Text Giving keyword more regularly via social media, to give supporters an instant way to give. This resulted in income quadrupling during lockdown and then remaining significantly higher even after restrictions had been eased.

“Text to give is a simple, quick way for donors to give and this is what they increasingly want. They don’t want to spend an age filling in forms.”
