Yesterday, #GivingTuesdayNow took not only the sector – but the world – by storm. Charitable organisations across the globe joined together in a bid for unity in response to COVID-19, inspiring and motivating people across the world.
Awareness was raised and donations were collected via digital means including card & text. So, here’s a quick round-up of just some of the brilliant ways charities in our community used text as part of their #GivingTuesdayNow call-to-action.
Changing Faces
As part of their #GivingTuesdayNow campaign, Changing Faces launched two beautifully put-together activity packs to get both adults and kids alike involved. Whilst the children’s pack includes colouring sheets and activity ideas, the grown-up pack inspires supporters to host a virtual ‘Face Equali-tea Party’ for friends, family or colleagues.
The pack comes complete with conversation starters, bunting and recipes for some yummy baked goods. There are also details on how to make a donation (text “FACEEQUALITY 5” or a link to give by card) which can be shared with attendees, as well as a helpful breakdown of what £5, £10, £20 and £30 could afford for the charity and their beneficiaries.
Check out their fantastic resources below!

The Hygiene Bank
This powerful image from The Hygiene Bank on Instagram caught our attention yesterday. On #GivingTuesdayNow, the charity shared the fact that nappies are one of the most requested items from the charity, alongside details of how a £5 donation can be made easily to the cause using their keyword “BASICS”.
The post caught supporters’ attention too, with users organically sharing the post on their own Instagram Stories (including details of how to donate to the charity), which the charity then re-posted to their own Story.
Find their impactful post below and find out more about their work on their Instagram.

Hope Rescue
Over on Facebook, Hope Rescue got their staff and resident canine friends together to record a powerful video – highlighting how the charity is losing £1,000 worth of income each day and how important their supporters’ help is at this time.
The charity has incorporated both a text giving ask as well as a direct link to give through their website via card, directly into the video and the subsequent description box below.
Best of luck to all of you at Hope Rescue with your fundraising!

Team Rubicon UK
Yesterday, Team Rubicon UK turned to Instagram Stories to share a heartfelt message from their CEO, Richard Sharp. Explaining the work they’ve done so far as part of their #OpREACT COVID-19 emergency response, Richard shares that one of the most moving moments of his life occurred when they recently visited a care home in Kent, where the deployment of a Rubicon team has literally enabled them to get through this crisis – which gets a HUGE round of applause from us. 👏
Richard also shares a quick verbal call-to-action in the form of the charity’s keyword “TRUK”, which is also reinforced in highlighted text atop the video itself.
Silverburn Park
And finally – a special shoutout to Silverburn Park, who used the art of the mascot as part of their #GivingTuesdayNow appeal. As shared on Twitter, a donation to their cause will help Sammy the Squirrel to continue to tend for the Park during lockdown – a short, snappy and creative ask. Go Sammy!
