Second Lake:
photography by Don F. Roban
In this view of the estate you can see the main waterfall in the distance
which falls into the first lake.
In the foreground is the second man-made lake. Water flowing from the
upper pond, parts around a
small central island forming a rapid on each side. In the foreground you can see
five stepping stones
that cross the water to the island. These stones were hand picked for their shape
and size to afford an
easy safe passage when using them. The family dog finds this is a fun way to
get to the island and he
uses the stones on a regular basis. Note that I used five stones not four or
six. Here again, philosophy
of the orient is involved. Odd numbers are good numbers for design. Even
numbers are not.
An appropriate quote made by Frank Lloyd Wright : "If you foolishly ignore beauty, you'll soon
find
yourself without it. Your life will be impoverished. But if you wisely invest in beauty,
it will remain
with you all the days of your life"
